Music Review: Red Door by Dora Lachaise

Writer's picture: CARAGHCARAGH

Artist: Dora Lachaise

Song: Red Door

Sounds like:  Halloween!

Perfect for: Freaking out your neighbours when played at high volume on Hallow’s Eve..ooooohhhhhhh

I first heard ‘Red Door’ by Dora Lachaise when it was just written at a songwriting retreat in the Scottish countryside back in 2023. Performed on acoustic guitar and solo vocals, I was spooked and hooked right off the bat due to Dora’s hauntingly enchanting vocals, the catchy, creeping melody and possessive lyrics. ‘I’ll get you where I want you | There’s nowhere you can run to’ The song was originally written from the viewpoint of a house snaring its occupants and keeping them captive and given that the house we were staying in at the time was an old mansion and I was convinced it was definitely haunted, you can imagine how freaked out I was going to sleep that night! How fitting is it then that Dora Lachaise is releasing ‘Red Door’, now a fully-fledged beautiful production, as a single on none other than Halloween itself. It will send chills through your body, how thrilling! Go listen.

If you’re looking for something to do on Halloween and you’re in or around Glasgow, Scotland then head down to the Rum Shack for the official single launch of Red Door, tickets on sale now. Dressing up optional but encouraged.

As a musician myself (listen here to my latest release), I totally understand how important getting feedback is and how hard it can to get people to listen to your music.
